In Physical Education, we are learning four defensive strategies.
The first one we have learnt is closing space, in Volleyball or any sport you need to close the space so the opposition can not go for that side. For example, the first line in the team has to close the space so the other team doesn't spike or do any fast plays in the area's you haven't covered up.
The second one we are learning is Man on man, man on man is a something you do to "Shadow" or "mark" the opposite team, from spiking or going for open space. For example, Mark the player in front of you, not just to pressure but also to watch his next moves.
The third one is organizing your line up or order of players, so in some sports it is good to have tall people in front and some short people at the back, this is so you have an mismatch and also for the tall people to watch what the other team will do before during and after they receive the ball. For example, We need three tall people at the front so the other team feels pressured, scared and also the tall people can block and watch the spikes or plays they might pull out of their hats.
The last one we have been learning is blocking the ball or any play the other team is going to use, so the tall people or the front row has to be on with their blocks. This is so the other team is having an hard time doing plays and also blocking their hard hits can ware them out faster and that gives you a mismatch. For example, the front row or tall people, you need to watch their plays, since ya'll are tall it should be easy for them to block any play or spike that is coming their way.
